mission statement

I know it's a bit late to be talking about New Years resolutions but I made a few this year regarding the hobby.  Maybe resolutions is not the word but certainly aims. In an email to my gaming buddies Chris and Rich I set out my aims for this year an excerpt of that is below....

1. 1. More games, let's face it it's been slack chaps
2. A couple of trade shows, Salute etc. I think there is one in Folkestone and we can do one in London for ease.
3. More games
4. recruitment drive, more nerds please
5. More games
6. Paint enormous lead mountain
7. I think you guess the theme

Well the lead mountain got added to over Xmas but I hope to cut into that.......yeah right!

More games is to be addressed - we played a massive game over new year with many more to come. Now mine and Chris's man caves are up and running properly hopefully it should be much more gaming, plus zombie solo gaming means i can play games and leave them set up over several nights.

recruitment drive - any gamers in East Kent fancy meeting up just let me know!

Trade shows - tickets for Salute 2016 booked!

so those are the aims, lets see how we get on

  1. That's not a bad list insomuch as it's pretty much acheivable.
I was pleased to have attended tow shows last year for the first time in a long time, but disappointed I couldn't make a third, so maybe tht'll be my target for this year - oh and of course more games (does rpgs count too ?)

    1. recruitment of gaming nerds is always the most difficult i think, we need a gaming group down here somewhere

RPGs definitely count, anything high up on the hobby factor is in!

I think on the lead mountain side it should be paint twice as many models as come in?

  2. I do admire your mission statement, Andy. It is very similar to my own New Year's resolutions - paint more figures, play more games and spend less on the hobby. Much as I'd love to recruit at least one other player, I just can't see it happening. It's a darned shame we live so far apart.

    1. Damn right it's a shame, would love to shoot some zombies with you bud! Will just have to do it vicariously when you do your next ATZ campaign...hint, hint....

  6. Good list and I wish you luck in there completion. My self and a fellow blogger arrange to try and visit each others house at least once a month schedules permitting. It works quite well plus we get to game what we want to play at our houses.

  7. Hi Simon, yeah that system works well generally we play Black Powder at Chris's place and Bolt Action at mine. My next post will be a bat rep from a session at Chris's

  8. The summit of Lead Mountain beckons. I shall follow your ascent with interest.

(I've yet to make it to the lowest base-camp of my own, sad to say.)

  9. As the hobby butterfly of the group I too have some new years resolutions. Any advice people have for staying focused would be appreciated as I tend to get excited about every new game that comes out. mmmmmmmmm team yankee!!!!!!

    Anyway my goals are:

    1. Finish my Romans for Hail Ceaser
    2. Finish My Lizard Men for Warhammer
    3. Have a table and terrain set up in place by mid year.
    4. Wait for the Epic 40k Release and then get highly excited and buy everything.
    5. Finish My Galadhrim Knights for lord of the rings and try to get Andy & Chris into War of the ring. Best system I have played.

Andy will now insult me and say if you do all that I will eat my own testis but I am determined!

    1. Wouldn't want to disappoint you by not insulting you Rich! But where to start.....hmm

Right, there is no way a disorganised, easily distracted wan.... Ooh look Bushido, must get some painted....

Oh and the testis thing - it's spelt testudo, not testi ....silly boy no wonder you haven't got your Romans finished!

    2. If however you were to complete both 1 & 2 I would consider war of the ring.

  10. Paint more, play more, spend less. It all sounds good (and *so* familiar!). Best of luck in achieving these.

  11. You got this! I'm sure you'll manage some more games this year, and at least dent the mountain. I can't wait to see the batreps and updates! It's a shame there is a rather large body of water between here and there - I'd love to take you up on your offer!

    1. N667, games I think I've got covered as I've managed a massive black powder game already and have got a bolt action lined up for next week - hurrah! I've been painting loads of stuff for the hospital project recently, but some more models have already creeped into da grotto.....

Yes the Atlantic makes for a little bit of a barrier doesn't it!
