Recently Damon and I decided to record a game of Bushido, it was a bit of an experiment and initially I wasn't too keen as to be polite "I have a face best suited to radio". However due to the utter lack of Bushido battle reports I started to come around to the idea. Now I'm a complete techno-phobe being much more analogue in my approach to life, the universe and everything so I left it up to Damon to sort out the recording gear, edit the video and send it to me to upload to a suitable platform. We wanted it to go out under a recognisable banner so I put it out under my "da Gobbo's Grotto" account, hence why he sent it to the techno-phobe.
So for our inaugural game we have come up with the first in a series of battles that we have taken to calling "The Starter Set Wars". This is because we will only be using the models from each of the starter sets of each faction that we own, which currently are Temple of Ro-Kan, Prefecture of Ryu, The Savage Wave and the Cult of Yurei. To this lot we will be adding two more in the new year in the form of the Tengu Descension and the Silvermoon Trade Syndicate, Rich has also got the Ito Clan but they are a long way from completion knowing Rich's painting speed..... (sorry buddy, lol). The first battle is between the Savage Wave - Demons called Oni and Bakemono (Gremlin like imps) and the Cult of Yurei - the undead monsters!
finally before I paste the link, the resolution is very low as this was a trial so the quality isn't good, hopefully this will improve with time depending on the reception this video has....
hope you enjoy
dGG
It was fun editing it together and I have a couple of ideas going forward. The quality will get better as I learn my camera
ReplyDeleteCool, it'll get better if that's what people would like to see
DeleteLike myself theses are faces for radio, well done all the same!
ReplyDeleteThanks Fran :-)
DeleteI loved every minute of it. Please do MORE of these.
ReplyDeleteThanks T, I think that's the plan :-)
Deleteyou really must do more of these, its so much fun to watch... and informative too. I have often wondered about doing you tube videos (Hils has been encouraging us to try it for ages now) but I always chicken out. Strange because I don't mind performing music live in front of a large audience lol... weird really.
ReplyDeleteI loved your first video and please do make more. I really enjoyed it. Well done both of you.
I must admit to stage fright Steve and ummed and ahhed right up to the time I pressed publish on YouTube.
DeleteGreat effort Andy, difficult to do, I commend you both for having a go and look forward to seeing more
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave, I appreciate the support.
DeleteA great watch!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gordon :-)
DeleteThat was very good, Andy, and as others have said, I hope you do more of thee video batreps in the future. Judge Dredd, perhaps, he suggests hopefully!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bryan, it seems this has gone down very well so I think there will be more. We have another battle in "the can" but sadly some of the turns haven't recorded. There will be new battles for this series of games and they will be recorded. Once we've got a few done there might be other genres touched on.
DeleteKeep going Andy, please keep going. This is definitely a great way to help better publicise both "Bushido" and your wonderful minis, board and sportsmanship :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Simon, this is all very encouraging for us!
DeleteBrave of Foolish ? I think from my pov, the jury is still out., though I do applaud your efforts and the quality will no doubt impove. It's one of those things where I thik you could well be at the cutting edge of new wargaming technology.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the quality will improve, although the next vid was a bit if a disaster, I have high hopes for next year though
DeleteBrave or Silly.......yes.
ReplyDeleteJust joking, I enjoyed this so do, do more....defiantly brave though, I don't even like photo's of myself, and my voice..don't get me started.
Cheers Roger.
Me either Roger, but I thought "do you know what? F**k it" and did it anyway..... lol
DeleteLove all the comments. Definitely do more after Xmas. More likely to be more Bushido though as we have both fallen so in love with the game thanks to its game mechanics and the friendliness of the players at the tournament we met.
ReplyDeleteThe game is awesome! Although I'm thinking 7TV2 would be quite good too...
DeleteFinally got around to watching this, so apologies for the late comment. Very entertaining. For a first attempt at something like this, it was very good. As your confidence and technique improves, they can only get better. As long as you're comfortable doing them, we'll keep watching.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jez, obviously room for improvement but we hope to get a few in the beginning of next year so plenty of practice. There will be, as I've mentioned above one more of these to come that we did on the first day, that went a bit wrong but that in itself was a good learning curve for us.
DeleteWhile you may say that you have a face for radio. There are several who think I have a face for a Punch Bag.
ReplyDeleteConsider yourself lucky!
I will watch the video with interest over the festive period. But I do have high hopes for it!
Hahaha, not at all mate!
DeleteThank you, I hope you enjoy it
