because i'm a good guy...

Hi all

on my last post I said "you wouldn't want a picture of  ALL my Bushido collection to date....would you?"

It would appear that the majority of you would, those who regularly comment on this blog anyway.  So for them and as I'm a team player I've tried my best to get pictures of literally everything that I have finished for this awesome game.

my Yagura, dojo, 8" control zone, bamboo grove, Prefecture of Ryu faction

my buddha shrine, shinto shrine, 4" control zone and multi-faction models

dice trays and faction dice, homemade status tokens and card box

my temple board and Temple of Ro-Kan faction

all of my Bushido minis together

There are some works in progress and my next post will show a few new things that i'm working on and i'm scheduled to face off against Damon next week for my first competitive games, so expect an AAR in the near(ish) future - these things take time to write up.  Friday of course is the concluding part of our "Tale of 4 Gamers" at least for the painting part, again there will be AAR's to follow and all of that stuff.

I'll leave you with a quick video of the collection in it's entirety (if it works, it didn't in the preview) you won't need sound as I do not talk at all. I hope this is satisfactory to those who wanted to see the lot....

But for now -
hope you enjoy!

  1. What a fiendishly well done advertisement for "Bushido" Andy, so incredibly tempting!!! This project has been a thrill to watch and your collection looks very impressive, and quite rightly so considering all the effort you've put into it. Marvellous stuff :-)

    1. Thanks Simon, considering I bought the first set of models in October last year I didn't start painting till April due to other projects, but since then it's been consuming! But I've produced quite a lot of stuff in the last two months so it's been worth it and now I can start gaming.

  4. Very impressive, Andy. Plenty of delightful eye candy and it's obvious that this game has fired your imagination. And obviously tempted others into buying/playing the game (although Simon doesn't take much convincing ;-).)
Once 'Forgotten Heroes' is done, I will be venturing back into Oriental Fantasy for much of July, but will be doing it in my own 'cost effective' way - so, Oriental Fantasy gaming on a budget - of 'Budgeto', as I like tocall it.
Your burger cart and grill should be finished shortly, so drop me an email at: jeremy@allmain.co.uk with your address, so I can get it over to you.
And the video didn't work for me.

  6. I could get into Bushido but several of my games club have already done it and moved on so for them it would be "OLD HAT" which would mean I would buy it an paint it and probably never get to play it.

Still worth a quick eBay scan for prices.

    1. the good thing about old hats Clint is that they are still totally wearable! I like to go back and forth through the games that I play and am more drawn to the look of a game than whether its the newest thing. not long ago, i rediscovered Chainsaw Warrior from the 80's and spent a great afternoon with it. Actually thats not a bad shout giving that the weather has killed off any thoughts of going outside....

back to the point, I bet if you produced some of your beautifully painted figures on a lovely board you would regenerate interest in the game!

    2. I was thinking of the Dixon Miniatures Japanese Fantasy line and using Dragon Rampant, but my ideas change so rapidly that I doubt I ever will. Partly because these "Bushido" figures are so darned expensive! (at £8-10 each! Where as Dixon about £1.50 for each Japanese Omi (goblin))

    3. I get that mate, they are expensive but you don't need many, still I understand where you're coming from.

    2. looking back on it, it's a bit of a boring video but as it was only a test, next time it can be a bit more jazzy!!

  9. Great work all round. Yep, the video works, so congrats on that! I really envy you for having such a great collection of figures and scenery for a genre I have a lot of love and respect for. Your articles for "Bushido" have been truly inspirational and a joy to read. No doubt about it, you are the Bushido Daimyo!

    1. Great stuff, glad you enjoyed my progress. I feel a bit of a fraud as I haven't finished with the project by a long chalk only my faction minis until later on in the year. I'm working on more terrain, another board and will feature batreps too!

    1. It is Joe yes, but I've got so much energy around the game that it wasn't difficult to crack on with it, rather than stop and do mundane things like work and uni.....

  13. Yep, the video worked fine mate.. I really got a lot of pleasure from this (the video, and the photos, and your write up of course). I always like Bryan Vampifan`s "wot I Got" articles for the same reason. Wargaming (especially skirmish) and rpg is such a gregarious pastime, unboxing, opening, stuff all lain out on a table, it’s all stuff we can relate to.... we all KNOW what it feels like to run out entire collections on the table, gloat, chest swelled to bursting; and if we can share it with others... well then, sp much the better. These happy moments are to be treasured, I always think.

My main passion is Victorian Colonial wargaming/skirmish and rpg, REALLY lucky. Colonial British is all about pomp, glory, and `show off` ceremony. This means I can work my entire collection on the table regularly, and take tons of photos for my personal campaign journals, at the same time... and it all fits.... rows of cannon teamed by Royal Horse Artillery, Rocket crew and limbers pulling up the rear, Bengal Lancers, Natal Native Contingent Police and Irregulars led by Durnford. 24th Battalion Welsh Borderers (A and B) Regiments of Foot ... led by Lord Chelmsford. 17th Lancers resplendent in their light blue and red collar trim spaghetti, Native Irregular Contingents pulling up the rear.... reporter Noggs snapping away at the spectacle, trying to get a good photo of the Queen as the troops all file past. The British Embassy house and gardens just in shot in the backdrop..... aaah how I LOVE pulling pulling out my entire collection and parading it infront of... um.. well my eyes only really, but in my mind`s eye, I`m actually THERE amongst the men and the fair maidens hanky waving and cheering the hansom and brave men on. I` the one of the great white charger of course.... and Lady Hilary G is blowing a kisses to me from amidst the admiring throng.

But back to reality a moment haha, yes I totally `get it` and love this post very much Andy. Makes me want to go and paint Red Coats for some reason.... that’s ANOTHER fav` era I game in.... Colonial China (55 Days in Peking).

Love it lovi it love it, you have here an absolutely amazingly impressive collection mate.

    1. No worries about the typos dude, I know what you mean about trying to get your comments - mine is a fear that any minute my fat fingers will accidentally delete the comment (it's not unfounded, I've done it on more than one occasion...)

Wow you need to video your collection now mate, cos I would love to see that, absolutely love it! One day I'll video my Napoleonic Redcoats when I lay them out and pop it on here for you if you like?

    2. We`d all LOVE that.
