A very quick post today as I have very little time due to some pressing essay deadlines (only a mere 2000 word procedural critique and a 3000 word research critique...). However I could not let my amazing good fortune to pass without some reference. A little while ago Bryan of "Vampifan's World of the Undead" fame posted an excellent article regarding 2000ADs upcoming 2000 issue, you can read it here. I'm a big fan of 2000AD and although haven't been keeping up with the latest progs, I have lasting memories of avidly reading the adventures of Judge Dredd, Johnny Alpha and Nemesis the Warlock amongst many others. In celebration of their 2000th edition Bryan put up a little blog competition to win some JD goodies and long story short - I won!
To say I was pleased is a massive understatement, I was giddy with excitement! now if you have read the post (if not, why not? after all I did furnish you with a link - here it is again, now off you go I can wait...... **drums fingers on the table**......are you back? good, good i'll carry on then) you will have seen the sheer size of the intial giveaway - Hammerstein the ABC warrior, Street Judge, Cursed Earth Desperado and the Ape Gang (10 minis) plus 8 Heroclix inc 3 of the Dark Judges - Fire, Fear and Mortis, Judge Dredd himself and Hershey as well as a Brit Cit Judge and Johnny Alpha and Torquemada. That's a very impressive 18 miniatures as a prize all winging their way to me, Bryan did say he (maybe) was going to add a couple of other models. Imagine my surprise when I open this lot then....
I make that an amazingly generous 21 miniatures with the addition of Judge Dredd, two SJS judges and a Med Judge (of course). I'm so grateful for Bryan's generosity, I truly am! what a great hobby we have....
It will take me a while to work my way through that lot due to uni but I will take lots of WIP photos and hope you guys out there will follow the progress of these with me. Gaming wise I already have the Judge Dredd Miniatures Game (JDMG) but now because of this prize I have added Judge Dredd the Role-playing Game (JDRPG) to my Pdf bank along with a whole host of cheap supplements, this is because of Mongoose losing the licence to produce these games and because of THAT they have reduced the cost by at least 75%, some of the supplements being as little as 25p! It looks like the Nerd Herd maybe treading the streets of MC-1 in the future....
hope you enjoy

ReplyDeleteVery generous, blown away by the gift
DeleteI am not at all jealous. No not at all. (you git). Congrats on the win and I hope they serve you well. I really do mean that but I am still going to call you names!!!
ReplyDeleteI can take it Clint, sitting here surrounded by lovely miniatures to comfort me...
DeleteA post that fair warms the cockles of my heart. Having been on the receiving end of a few blogging prizes myself I do like to give something back every now and then. The 2000th edition of 2000AD was certainly a great excuse to run a competition on my blog, seeing as I have been collecting it non-stop from issue 1. What makes me so delighted that you won, Andy, was your sheer joy at being the winner. I know that the figures I sent you have found a good home and that pleases me immensely. Once again, many congratulations to you. You really have proved you are a worthy winner.
ReplyDeleteI was honestly blown away by your prize mate, so generous. I've already dived in and based them all (bar the 'clix as I'm going to have to source some suitable bases first) such is the excitement in da Grotto. I hope to post something in a week or so as I've nearly finished Hammerstein already. This is seriously messing with my uni work though ;-)
DeleteTop prize, well done
ReplyDeleteTop prize indeed mate
DeleteHaving been on the end of a few of Bryan's generous mini parcels in the past I am absolutely delighted for you, Andy, and have no doubt you'll do all these figures justice with your paint-brush ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Simon, no doubt about it I'm elated! Will certainly try ;-)
DeleteWhat an extraordinarily generous prize and what a luck chap you are!
ReplyDeleteIt is and I am!
DeleteWow! Amazing prize! And that lot will certainly keep you busy for a while!
ReplyDeleteIt is an amazing prize, I've already started digging into the pile Gordon!
DeleteWELL deserved Andy, and we all know you will make such amazing good use of them. Bryan strikes again with his wonderful gifts (we`ve all been subject to them many a time).
