Mega City - 1, more offerings

Hi all

for today's post, I give you the next three judges that I've manage to paint up from my fantastic prize win recently.

First up is my Med-Judge, with my medical connection this Judge has a special meaning for me and the mini's sculpt is perfectly represented.  Bryan intends his version of the mini to represent me in his upcoming campaign (which I wish he would stop teasing us about!! ;-P) and I intend him to be a total no-nonsense medic, informing the patients in no uncertain terms to "man up!" hahahaha. I also want him to be able to kick-ass too, so don't expect a "do no harm" type medic!

I went with the black uniform with navy drybrush and gold shoulder pads combo that I used for JD and JH in my last MC-1 post, so I won't go on about it here.  There are some versions of med judges wearing green shoulder pads in some of the comic strips and it seems like there is a confusion about this branch of MC-1 Judiciary and a sorry lack of source material. In fact I can't remember any specific story lines that involved the Med Judges in any detail - grrr! I will have more detail coming hopefully at xmas when I get my Judges Handbook for the game but until then....

Next up I have the Special Judicial Squad or SJS.  These are the Judge hunters, internal affairs type boys. Tracking and dealing with rogue judges.  Although looked on with some distaste they are vital in keeping the most dangerous people in MC-1 under control - the Judges!!

They will certainly come in handy when I start to develop my own campaigns as I already have a few ideas for them!

anyway that's it for now
hope you enjoy

  1. Terrific painting, Andy. Love those SJS shoulder-pads. Tip top job... and a nice glimpse of your future projects on the painting table - You little tease, you :-)

  2. Lovely stuff, Andy! Regarding the colour scheme for Med Judges (and indeed Tek Judges) there is no definitive answer as to what is right and what is wrong. It seems it all depends on who the artist is as to how they look and even then, they can change from story to story. If you are happy with how he's turned out then that is all that matters.

Incidentally, the SJS do sometimes assist the Street Judges in their pursuit of normal crimes. With the Justice Department forces being depleted by recent catastrophes, it makes sense to make good use of all of their resources.

I know I keep teasing about when I'll be starting my JDMG campaign but here's a promise I will keep. It will begin in early January 2017. I'm going to be reviewing some of my Perps in December, but in the New Year I'll be ready to go and you will see the Judges in action.

    1. "I know I keep teasing about when I'll be starting my JDMG campaign" - At this rate it'll arrive before my "Doctor Who & The Seeds Of Doom" BatRep, Bryan ;-)

    2. LOL! I don't think it has been waiting as long as your "Seeds of Doom" batrep, Simon, but I take your point. I just want to get it right instead of going off half-cocked. Believe me, it will all be worth the wait and January is only a month away.

    3. Good to hear that I'm not too far off then. I must admit that the Dark Judges are the same with the colour of their pads, pouches and just about everything else too! It's most annoying (in an enjoyable way because I'm reading a ton of back issues on line as "research").

Woohoo looks like 2017's looking up already!

Simon - Dr Who? Tsk tsk tsk

  7. Might not be into Dredd (or rather, not able to afford to get into it) all this DOES inspire me/us here in sunny Ireland to make even further headway into our future proposed (and definitely soon upcoming) Gotham campaign.

  8. I do love all the JD stuff that cam out back when, but always thought I couldn't get a sutiable terrain together of it .. and the price of figures was well out of my reaxch too.
Looking forward to seeing what you do with thses (eventually).

    1. I need a lot more figs to put something on, although I can proxy gangs with some old Necromunda minis plus some others. I'm thinking of making up some terrain and have bought some bits and bobs which will help. I might even build a portion of a mega-block but don't quote me as that is a mammoth undertaking that I haven't got time to do yet

  9. Lovely job dude! They are really nice looking sculpts dam you stop tempting me with other projects! Possibly they could be used for Rogue Stars perhaps?
