The Lucky Orc - review and competition

hi all

Way before xmas one of the contributers to a facebook page I subscribe to, told us all about his wife - Becky's new business venture - "The Lucky Orc".  She was making custom dice bags emblazoned with logos of your choice (I hope that sentence makes sense).

With xmas approaching I felt this was the ideal time to have a little look see at what she had to offer and I was delighted with what I found.  I decided that I would buy a dice bag for each of the Nerd Herd and obviously one for me with "da Gobbo's Grotto" logo on the front.  I messaged Becky my requirements and after several messages including sending her my artwork we came up with what I thought was a winner and this is what Becky did for me....

When the bags arrived they are amazing, the stitching is immaculate, the colours perfect, the materials hard wearing and flexible, custom hand made ties and the logos are embroidered and just bloody amazing.  Becky is delightful, incredibly talented and very helpful, the bags arrived within days despite being made from scratch and she even delivered one of the bags to a different address for me without hitch.

I really love the bags and can highly recommend them and with that in mind have included a link to her facebook page below.

I really, really like these bags and one of you lucky folks can really, really like them too as I bought an extra one as a prize for a competition, the first competition of a few I'm planning for 2017.  In order to win this bag....

just comment below on your favourite da Gobbo's Grotto post of 2016 and why (yes its a big of an ego trip, but also to check that people are paying attention...).  I will then put your entry in a bag and Missus Gobbo will draw a lucky winner out.  The closing date for this competition is the 30th January 2017, with the winner being announced no later than one week after. There is only one prize - the dice bag and it will be sent by Royal Mail within a week of confirmation of the winners postal address.

hope you enjoy

  1. What a lovely bag and great idea for a draw. To that end my favourite post, although far too many great ones to choose from, would be the Jung Pirates board - wonderfully inspirational.

  2. Whoever wins your prize ought to be very happy indeed, Andy. Obviously as the recipient of one of your lovely dice bags I do not want to be included in the draw but I'd still like to tell you what was my favourite post of 2016 on your blog. It was the one when you announced you had won my 2000AD prize draw. Your unbridled happiness and surprise at winning was truly heart-warming. You were a deserved winner and I'm delighted that my prize was so well received.

  3. I have never wanted a dice bag, but if I ever did It would be one like that. (Different colours and Logo and Name so probably nothing like that really. But made to the same high quality.

I hope the bag serves you well and the dice roll true having been carried in it!)

  5. Dice bags are a new phenomena (to me at least) and maybe they're the new must-have accessory for gamers! I think I'll be sticking to my box!
You've made too many good posts over the last year, but your series of posts on your scratchbuilt hospital has to bemy favourite.

  6. Nice Dice bag, but I think I'll stick with the one the kids bought me from Lego land with the Wolf shield pattern on, so please don't enter me in the comp.

I liked your Zomtober cameraman fondling himself and newwoman best.

    Cheers Roger.

  8. What a lovely idea for a draw/competition. I'd be hard-pressed to pick my favourite, Andy, as your unbridled enthusiasm for everything you do and embracing of new ways of doing things (the podcast, for example) is an inspiration to us all.
As all my dice currently sit in either a Marmite jar or my Bagpuss tin (a gift from my daughter), i find myself not actually requiring a dice bag, so i feel that the bag should go to someone more deserving.
My favourite post (being biased) was the revelation of the 'cook' for the Jwar Islands Cupid Burger franchise, as i thought you did a brilliant job of making him fit in with both your existing figures and his cart.

  9. Yup, it looks good. I have enough dice/token bags already (thanks to my wife), but I've enjoyed pretty much all of your output. Keep it up!
