I've heard of the "hairspray" technique before but never tried it myself - have you seen the "rock salt" method?<br />Scale-wise, I reckon they work because in real life we're used to seeing skips of different sizes - also (just like the RV Kieron mentions) I think they're designed so that a mini's base will fit inside.
